Teeth: The AMG Review
Fans of Michael Lehmann’s 1989 cult classic Heathers should do themselves a favor and seek out this slick little indie from first-time feature filmmaker Michael Lichtenstein, as this gruesomely charming tale of vagina dentata shares a similar satirical tone with that darkly comic tale of teen alienation. Of course, there are some fairly obvious key differences separating the two films, yet their approach to skewering teen trends and suburban morality bounds them as cinematic siblings who share an uncannily similar comic sensibility.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe

Hey there, First Showing has the latest trailer online ... After you're done looking at some from-the-set photos; read what we do know: (1) The story here is not structured to be a direct sequel to the now-ten-years-old original – it will be a standalone story, and we hear it could be an experiment to see if a one-off model could be used for additional "sequels"; (2) the ever-patient and always-mysterious Chris Carter created hype and deflected rumors for what seems like the better part of the current decade in order to bring all the essential X elements together, mainly the suddenly busy Scully and the I-hate-Vancouver Mulder; (3) the shooting script has been tinkered on for years under the watchful eyes of development executives at Fox; (4) we nominate X Files News as the most bookmarkable fansite for all the daily details tied to the production that will kick start all of your best conspiracy theories ...
Kicking It

In the summer of 2006, while the football world's attention was focused on Germany, thousands of players around the globe were training hard and competing to be part of the World Cup...The Homeless World Cup. It began in 2001 as a wild idea by a Scot and an Austrian—to give homeless people a chance to change their lives through an international street soccer competition. Five years later, the annual Homeless World Cup had become an internationally recognized sports competition. 500 homeless players from 48 nations would ultimately be selected to represent their country in Cape Town, South Africa—coming from such disparate parts of the world as war torn Afghanistan, the slums of Kenya, the drug rehab clinics of Dublin, Ireland, the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, the overflowing public shelters of Madrid, Spain, and the unforgiving city of St. Petersburg, Russia, where the homeless have no rights or identity. Win or lose, for these players it would be the journey of a lifetime. The film follows seven players in their own tough worlds as they confront the daily challenges of life on the streets, battle drug and alcohol addiction, and fight for the right to be recognized as human beings. We witness their struggles, hopes, and determination. The teams are greeted by the South African President, as they make their spirited entrance in to two newly built street soccer "pitches", located at the precise spot where Nelson Mandela was released from prison—with the glorious Table Mountain as the backdrop. Nobel Peace Laureate Desmond Tutu joins the players, declaring homelessness the new "apartheid." For 7 days of fiercely competitive matches, the teams vie for the championship cups. Despite the fact that they may not have a home, the players wear the colors of their country with pride. From shattering misconceptions about the homeless to seeing people living at the edge of society discover that they also can be winners, the film shows in a real and powerful way that sports can and does change lives. As the Russian coach observes, "To me, football is the best model for real life. There is no last game in football and there is no last game in real life. You always have another chance to win."

The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
Gonzo" is the definitive film biography of a mythic American writer, particularly covering his most provocative and productive period from 1965 to 1975. His wicked words continue to resonate today, at a time when politicians have become manufactured celebrities, shrouding themselves in Teflon, issuing banalities whose only value is that they rarely offend. Too often, contemporary journalists play the politicians' game, taking them seriously with a balance they don't deserve. Thompson never stood for that. He understood, better than any other, that when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
"Gonzo" is a three-dimensional portrait with a focus on Thompson's work, whose legendary status is due as much to his scintillating writing as his outrageous antics. A die-hard member of the NRA, Thompson was also a coke-snorting, whiskey-swilling, acid-eating fiend. While his pen dripped with venom for crooked politicians, he surprised nervous visitors with the courtly manners and soft-spoken delivery of a Southern gentleman. Careening out of control in his personal life, Thompson also maintained a steel-eyed conviction about righting wrongs. Today, in a time when "spin" has replaced the search for deeper meaning, Thompson remains an iconic crusader for truth, justice and a fiercely idealistic American way.
